05/14/2023 - National Showcase - Atlanta, GA Malcolm continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. At 3B, he shows smooth actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean and presents out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

02/26/2023 - National Showcase - Atlanta, GA Malcolm continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents well out front. In he OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

10/23/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Newnan, GA Malcolm is a 3B/OF who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF, he works behind the ball, with fluid feet, and showed good agility. He fields from an athletic fielding position with a low funnel off of his left foot. Has a loose arm stroke as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 76mph. Creates momentum towards his target as he made on-line throws into infield. At 3B, he showed good lateral range, with fluid footwork, and showed ability to get to balls in all directions. He fields from an athletic fielding position with hands out front. Made on-line throws across the diamond. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Smooth timing to his swing with activated hands. He is centered at contact and showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone. A flat barrel path enables him to square up baseballs into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Malcolm having a bright futute on the baseball field.

02/20/2022 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Atlanta, GA Malcolm is a 2023 graduate that continues to show a ton of projectability. He has a good balance of power and athleticism. At the plate Malcom has a nice compact swing using all fields. Defensively he has a chance to play either infield or outfield at the next level. Arm is accurate and consistent with some good carry. Hands play well with good exchange. Malcom also has a lot of great intangibles working for him. Baseball IQ is high and he’s a hard worker!

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Malcolm showed a spike in hitting numbers and increased exit velocity to 88 MPH during his time at the Pre-Season AA. He is a class 4 OF with good skills. Offensively, Malcolm hits from a strong base, he stands in open, and swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, solid bat whip, and he makes level/consistent contact. Malcolm swings with good intent and squares it up well on the barrel. Defensively, Malcolm has a presentable glove and efficient footwork. He tracks well, makes plays, and throws with accuracy and momentum to his cut off man.

07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Malcolm continues to show to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally displaying range in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. He is an aggressive base runner and will take the extra base.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Malcolm is a young and talented 2B/OF that will graduate in 2023. At 2B, Malcolm shows good prep work with active feet ready to react. He takes a good first step to the ball but could improve by gaining more speed and agility. As he fields the ball, he makes the exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly delivering the throw with strength and accuracy. At the plate, he sets up in a tall and square stance and starts the swing with a controlled load. He gets his foot down on time rotating against a firm front side getting the barrel on plane well. He shows a solid line drive approach hitting to all fields. On the mound, Malcolm uses a 2-pitch FB/CH combo. He shows confidence on the mound starting with a square setup and works hard to separate his hands on time. He keeps solid direction to the plate and finishes to the target. Malcolm will continue to grow and develop, we look forward to seeing his progress.

10/25/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Newnan (Atlanta), GA Malcolm continues to shine on the diamond. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side.

07/28/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Malcolm is a coachable IF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Malcolm takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and strong through his target. Keeping his hands higher in his exchange can help Malcolm improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and hits against a strong front side. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives the ball to the opposite field. Malcolm can improve as a hitter by taking a more level swing path. Overall, Malcolm is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
