09/14/2014 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Malik is an athletic 3rd baseman who will graduate in 2016. Defensively, Malik has good body control to the ball, his hands are sure, and he flashes good pre-pitch actions. He works around the ball well, makes routine plays, and throws with a long arm action with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Malik has a square set-up, an activated load, and he swings in good rhythm. He stays inside the ball, has good bat speed, and he gets solid extension through the ball. Hitting can improve if Malik can use more lower 1/2, widen his base, and improve his barrel accuracy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
