09/27/2014 - Infield Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Commuter Jackson is a young athletic shortstop who shows a great arm for his age. He also shows very good athleticism for a young player with a projectable body. Jackson displays a good fielding position with his glove presented out front, and good body control with efficient footwork. He needs to continue to work on his backhand, and going to his right with confidence, allowing him to cover more ground. Jackson also needs to allow himself to be great at the basic play, and let his athleticism take over on the difficult plays.

09/13/2014 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Commuter Jackson is a strong framed hitter who has the potential to make quality adjustments. He also shows the ability to take a good approach at the plate taking aggressive offensive swings early, giving him the ability to hit the baseball with some pop. Jackson needs to continue to work on understanding his contact points, and tracking the baseball the whole way to the barrel. Jackson also needs to continue to finish his back side every pitch, giving him more consistent power at the plate.

06/25/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Seattle, WA Malikai is a tall and thin SS with a good frame. Defensively, Malikai has playable hands and feet, and he squares up well to the ball. He makes plays, keeps it in front, and delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Malikai has a square set-up, good balance, and a short / square stride. He has a line drive swing, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower 1/2. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play more through
2. Play lower
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Rhythm
2. Bat speed
3. Sooner front foot

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
