Official Scouting Report

  • 1BPosition Projection

01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Manny continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to increase foot quickness. At the plate, power numbers have really improved, now showing as outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a fluid swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At 1B, he is a quality receiver, displaying proper footwork around the bag. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he softens hands and presents hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard tobe the best player he can be.

09/22/2013 - National Tryout - Phoenix, AZ Manny continues to show improvements in his game. Offensively, he gets good hip torque which helps to create hard contact off of his barrel. He utilizes his lower 1/2 well in firing his backside and generating some pop off the bat. Defensively, his big build (6'1"/210lbs) fit well as he is a hard target to miss. He shows good footwork and can get to almost anything thrown his way. Manny also got on the bump at this workout and got to a tall balance point, driving downhill toward the plate. CB shows 'slider like' sweeping action. CB is best off-speed and shows some fade. Increased arm strength will come with a long toss program and will help to raise velocities. Manny is only a junior and still has a lot of time to develop his game.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition in Arizona Manny is a thick, solid 1B that will graduate in 2015. He displays proper footwork around the bag with clean / sure hands. He needs to improve foot quickness and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, Reynoso shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are loose and he makes consistent hard contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
