Official Scouting Report

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Perez is a talented righty who can pound the zone. He works tall and drives downhill with a strong lower 1/2. Arm is loose/effortless as he finishes with extension. FB climbs into the low 90's as he keeps the ball down in the zone. He mixes in and out and can hit spots. Slider has 10/4 shape with good bite, showing to be a sold out pitch. Changeup has sink/tail complimenting his FB well. Marcelo is a projectable RHP who will throw strikes and work deep into a ballgame.

11/05/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Marcelo is a RHP with a lightning quick arm and a mature presence on the mound. He attacks hitters with his fastball that touched 90 at the UABF Futures event and it has outstanding life at the plate. As it gets to the hitter it seems to explode with big tailing action. Marcelo complements his FB with a breaking ball that has 3/4 tilt to it and induces some swing-and-miss from hitters. The velocity comes pretty easily for Marcelo with limited effort and a fairly upright finish. It is easy to envision him throwing harder and he has the makings of a quality starting pitcher at the next level.

08/17/2012 - Interactive Video Program - South Williamsport, PA Marcelo is a two-way player that plays SS/C. In the field his footwork is fluid with sure soft hands. Arm action is clean with a smooth exchange and easy actions. Behind the plate, Marcelo has a quiet body when receiving and displays solid lateral movement while blocking, keeping his body centered. At the plate, Marcelo displays a great rhythm, making sure he reaches a strong load position with his hands back and front foot down. His hands are loose with a good feel for the barrel and solid extension.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
