06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Marco continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.24 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop.

07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Marco is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. Behind the dish, Marco has a quick set up, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. He has god flexibility and works the zone well east to west. When throwing, he gains ground, he has a two handed exchange, and a slow release. He needs to quicken his release and improve his arm strength with a long toss program. When blocking he creates good angles to the ball and has a soft chest to keep the ball in front of him. At the plate, Marco starts in an open stance, he has loose hands, but needs create some separation with his load. He has a middle approach and gets the barrel on plane to the ball. Continuing to get his lower half to balance and creating backside drive to the ball will improve his ability to drive the ball. On the bump, Marco gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and stays in line toward his target. He needs to continue to work north to south in his delivery and work down in the strike zone. Marco has potential behind the plate and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/06/2019 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Marco is a strong C prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Marco takes good angles to block and covers up well. He sits in a low stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and works to make accurate throws to 2B. Marco can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing with good extension through the ball, leading to line drives into the gaps. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Marco improve as a hitter. With two more years to develop, Marco has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
