11/04/2012 - College PREP - Austin, TX Marcos is a young 2B/RHP that will graduate in 2017. Currently, he projects best at 2B for the next level. Feet are active as he works to square up ground balls and presents hands well out front. Hands are soft / clean / sure as he makes all the plays. He needs to play through balls and increase foot speed to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Castillo shows a wide stance and tracks the ball well. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he makes consistent contact. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with fading action. With 5 years to further develop, Marcos has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
