Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at the Yankees Training Complex Marcos is a solid player that has the ability to play two positions. On the mound, Marcos shows smooth actions with a simple repeatable delivery. He shows an idea of how to hold runners mixing up his looks, but could pick up the tempo a little bit. His balance point is controlled with level shoulders and a complete finish. From the stretch he can benefit by breaking his hands earlier or develop a bit higher of a leg kick. In the field, Marcos is sure handed with a good feel for routes and angles. His throws are accurate with good carry, he will improve by reaching a lower fielding position with his hands further out in front. Offensively, Marcos shows a good feel for both sides of the plate. His right handed swing is stronger at the moment but has the ability to swing from the left side. Marcos shows good barrel control from both sides and can increase power by using more of his lower half. Overall, he is a stand up kid who is very coachable and has a bright future in the game of baseball.

10/07/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Mt. Laurel, NJ Marcos is an average sized, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the hill, Marcos has a loose arm action, eyes on target, and on-time separation. He has good direction, proper glove side lead, and he is around the plate with his pitches. At 3B, Marcos has soft hands, efficient footwork, and he fields in a square position. He has a clean exchange, and throws with a long / loose arm with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Marcos is equally as good from both sides of the plate. He has a square / athletic set-up, good balance, and an aggressive swing. He has decent bat speed, a line drive approach, and he can spray to all fields. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. More lower body
2. Finish
3. Rhythm
Defense
1. Play through ball
2. Quicken feet
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Don't spin off ball
2. Stay short
3. More lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
