01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Marcus continues to show improvements in his abilities on the mound and has a promising future. On the bump, he displays a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Arm strength has improved, now showing as tremendous as he threw his top velocity to date at 88 mph. Fastball has lots of life with late explosion on hitters. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. Changeup shows tailing action but slows arm speed, tipping pitch to hitters. He shows good composure and competes on the mound through a quick tempo. Marcus has a big upside on the mound and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities.

07/06/2016 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Marcus is a young, athletic two-way prospect who is lights out on the mound and just keeps getting better and better. Marcus showcases and upper 80's fastball with good arm side run that he can throw for strikes. Marcus has great mound presence and his free and clean arm action allows him to get good late movement on his pitches. He has an easy, repeatable delivery and gets to a consistent release point which allows him to throw all of his pitches with the same arm speed. Keeping his hands moving with his body during his delivery will allow Marcus to have even better command and be an elite pitcher. At shortstop, Marcus shows his athleticism with good range and a very quick double play turn. He takes good angles to the ball and does a good job of gaining ground to his target to throw. Marcus is a very exciting prospect and has a bright future in baseball.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Marcus is a 2018 SS/RHP that showed improvement in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. At the plate, this righty showed a square stance and had good separation with his hands. He hustles down the line and was aggressive on the base paths. His abilities will improve by becoming more direct with his path and by utilizing his lower half through widening his stance. At SS, Marcus showed an aggressive/athletic nature with smooth hands. He is a natural fielder and will see improvement by getting better reads and softening his feet throughout the fielding process. On the mound, Marcus does a great job of keeping his eyes on his target, has a solid balance point, gets good extension with his lead arm and fields his position well. Throwing through his target and varying his looks when runners are on will improve his abilities as a pitcher. Overall, Marcus is a great kid who is engaged, hustles and wants to play every inning.

10/05/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Marcus is a rising freshman with upside. At SS, Marcus moves well with good control over his body. He has soft and sure hands that field the ball out front. Using a solid long toss program and starting to attack the ball will improve his abilities at short. At the plate he has a closed stance where his hands are active. He has plus bat speed with the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Refining his timing and getting extension through the zone will allow his abilities to improve. Showing athletic ability on the field and at the plate at this age makes for a promising future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
