11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Marcus is a 2025 1B who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Select Training and Competition. In the field, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and is in a good ready position at contact. Fields with hands front and his eyes behind his glove. Made throws from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 62pm. Marcus has a positive attitude playing this game and his team mates love playing with him. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an upright and even stance with loose/comfortable hands. He has on-time rhythm to his stride as he hits into a firm front side. He showed a strong barrel as he hit balls hard into both gaps with a bat exit velocity as high as 78mph. In live game action, he reached base multiple times including a single, a walk, and reached on an error. With plenty of time for continued growth and development, we expect to see Marcus to have a bright future on the baseball field.

08/22/2021 - All-In Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Marcus is a solid, strong corner IF who will graduate in 2023. In the IF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Marcus has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
