06/20/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (HS) Marcus shined on the mound during his last workout in Omaha. He is now a class 2 RHP with a high ceiling. Marcus has a good mound presence, a loose/quick arm action, and he works in good rhythm. He works well to his balance point, finishes completely, and aggressively attacks hitters. Marcus has a FB ranging from 89-92 MPH, a sharp 11-5 CB, and he throws strikes. At SS, Marcus has athletic actions, quick feet, and agile range. He presents well, fields out in front, and throws with accuracy and carry across the diamond to his target. Offensively, Marcus has an open/athletic stance, fast bat speed, and he makes hard/consistent contact. He has pop in his bat, rotates his core through, and hits with strength to the pull side.

03/28/2021 - All-In Membership - Windsor (Madison), WI Marcus is an athletic SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball with gap to gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his quick feet (7.20 60 time) in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) across the diamond. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-83 mph with slight tail. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short / sharp break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Marcus has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
