01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Marcus is a 2022 3B prospect who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American Tournament. At 3B, he showed athletic actions, with quick feet, and ability to cover ground. Good reads off bat enable him to create good fielding angles and ability to play through the ball. Show good glove action and has a quick transfer. Has a loose arm stroke in back as he works to a low 3/4 arm slot coming forward with a quick release. Throws were accurate and on-line across diamond. At the plate, this right-handed hitter begins with an athletic and even stance. Has an aggressive approach, with quick hands, and showed ability to make loud contact. A direct barrel path enables him to hit balls hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 93mph. In live game action, he reached base 5 times with a double and 4 base on balls. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee him making huge strides on the baseball field.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Marcus is a talented 2021 catching prospect who can really swing the bat. He stalks pitches well at the plate and gets good separation before making his move to contact. He generates good bat speed and has an excellent feel for the barrel resulting in a lot of hard contact (91 mph exit velocity). Marcus has the look of a run producer at the next level. Defensively, he receives well, with strong hands, and he has an accurate arm to 2B. He also seems to have good overall feel for the game behind the dish and handles pitchers well. Marcus can even jump on the mound when needed and spin a very good breaking ball. Overall, this is a solid catching prospect with offensive upside.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Marcus continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities are outstanding with near pro level power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are strong and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength (89 mph exit velocity) in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.26 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Marcus is a solid C/2B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.09 60 time. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times showed in 2.10 range with accuracy on his throws as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws are accurate with on line carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Marcus has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
