06/07/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Birmingham, AL Marcus is a lean, lanky RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82 mph. Fastball shows on a solid downhill plane. Breaking ball sits from 63-66 mph with 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 70-72 mph with arm side run and sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying excellent hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and has a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Marcus has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
