01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Marcus is a 2021 SS (committed to VCU) who showed as a prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At the plate - he has a strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At SS, he has plus lateral range (6.72 60 time), working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping (91 mph velocity) across the diamond. Marcus has a very bright future ahead of himself.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Marcus continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities have improved, now showing outstanding abilities as he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft/clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/turns of the double play. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. At the plate, hitting/power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Marcus has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Fort Myers, FL Marcus continues to improve his skills at the SS/OF position. At SS, hands are quick as he fields GB's with soft hands. He takes athletic routes to his glove-hand side and makes accurate throws across the infield. In the OF, he takes solid routes as he gets behind the fly ball. He's aggressive to the GB and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At the plate, Marcus tracks pitches well into the zone. He fires his hands quickly to the ball and drives pitches on a line with hard contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Marcus continues to show as a 2B and has improved his baseball abilities. In the MIF, defensive grade has improved, displaying smooth/fluid actions. He moves well laterally, flashing range and displays aggressive feet that attack the baseball. Athletic abilities are present on his feeds/turns of the double play. At the plate, he has improved his hitting/power grades through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He makes consistent contact as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable.

05/25/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Jupiter, FL Marcus is a LHH 2-way player as a 2B/OF. With the bat, this lefty shows a balanced setup with patience as he tracks the ball into the zone. Barrel delivery is quick to and through the zone as he connects with some pop. At 2B, Marcus is aggressive and comes to get the GB. He works into a square fielding position and funnels smoothly. In the OF, he takes a quick first step as he hustles into position behind the fly-ball. He secures it with 2-hands, works through the ball well and has a clean exchange to throw. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
