07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Marcus is a young C/RHP that made improvements during his time at Pirate City. Behind the plate he showed a relaxed stance and presented his glove well. His exchanges are clean with a short arm action. He utilizes the short hop with accurate throws. Improving arm strength will help Marcus become a better catcher. At the plate Marcus sets up with an open stance with comfortable hands. He tracks the ball well to the plate getting good extension showing more pop to the pull side. On the mound, Marcus shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CH. He starts at an angle with simple movements, separating on time as he keeps his eyes level towards the target. Working more hip/shoulder separation can improve Marcus' pitching. Marcus is young with several years to develop and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

03/03/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis , IN Marcus is a young, solid, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Marcus has a presentable glove, he takes good angles when blocking, and moves well laterally. He keeps the ball in front, his arm is loose and quick, and he throws with good direction to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.6 seconds. On the mound, Marcus has a clean arm circle, good balance, and he separates on time. He has good glove side lead, a controlled landing, and he is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Marcus has a tall setup, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, swings on plane, and hits with strength to the pull side. Marcus can continue to improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Footwork
2. Exchange
3. Release
1. Release

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
