05/29/2021 - 2021 BF National Florida Showcase Marcus is a quick-twitch athlete who showed well at the Baseball Factory Florida Showcase. His right-handed swing is compact and quick generating very good bat speed. He delivers the barrel well and shows the ability to adjust to center balls. He has a line drive stroke with some big impact as evidenced by his 100 mph exit velocity. Defensively his straight line speed (6.63 in the 60) works well with his first step quickness to give him good lateral range. His hands are soft and he has a quick release with carry to his throws. Marcus can impact the game with his bat, glove and legs.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Marcus is an athletic SS prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Marcus takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and throws from a high 3/4 angle. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed and plus barrel control, leading to loud line drives to all fields. Overall, Marcus is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

08/14/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ This athletic SS shows a tremendous future on the diamond. A RHH, hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. He has strength (94 mph exit velocity) in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Defensively, he takes a quick first step (6.65 60 time) and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip on his throws (82 mph velocity). Defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows big play potential. Marcus has a ton of upside and possesses the skill-set that will play at a very high level.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Marcus is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Marcus shows active footwork and has good range, especially to his backhand side. He gets into a square position to field and makes a clean exchange to throw. Marcus can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. Marcus can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With three more years to develop, Marcus has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/01/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ Marcus continues to progress and showed very well at his latest event in Trenton. At the plate, Marcus shows an athletic setup, a rhythmic swing, and a direct barrel to the ball. He has smooth actions at the plate, quick hands, and makes hard, consistent contact to all fields. At SS, Marcus has athletic actions, soft hands, and quick/active feet. He presents his glove well, flashes a quick exchange, and throws with accuracy from a quick release. A very talented 2021 grad, Marcus has a bright future on the diamond and is one to keep an eye on.

10/17/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Marcus showed an athletic stance and set up at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend and worked through a soft and square stride while activating the hands into a solid launch position. Marcus is at his best when letting the baseball travel to the proper depth of the hitting zone and keeping the top hand on the bat through the contact point and extending through impact. Marcus shows athleticism throughout his stroke as there is fluidity and proper timing to his swing. Being a young hitter, he will benefit from increasing strength which will help develop even more bat speed and power to the swing.

11/13/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Marcus is a young, athletic SS that will graduate in 2021 with a ton of potential in his baseball tools. At SS, he utilizes his active feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he attacks balls, playing through with his body. He is fundamentally sound with defensive grade improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will increase as he loads more and utilizes his lower half more aggressively through the swing. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 7 years to further develop, Marcus has the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
