  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Mario is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Mario makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Mario improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a small load and takes a level swing. He rotates his core well, leading to loud contact and solid pop to his pull side. Mario can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Mario gathers over the rubber and works inline towards the plate. His fastball tops out at 66mph. Taking a simpler starter step can improve Mario improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Mario has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Mario is a young, solid corner INF with good skills. At 1st base, Mario moves well around the bag, footwork is playable, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He keeps it in front of his body, his transfer is quick, and Mario throws with a loose arm action to his target. At 3B, Mario fields aggressively in a square position, flashes a good backhand, and throws with direction to his target. Offensively, Mario has a tall set-up, he loads well, and stands in with good balance. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and can work the ball gap to gap. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Infield
1. Quicken feet
2. Lateral movements
3. Loosen actions
Offense
1. Hips
2. Lower body
3. Stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
