07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Mario is a young 2024 that plays 1B/3B. At 1B, Mario works hard getting to the ball and fields the ball with his glove out on time. His hands are soft and sure with a clean 2-hand exchange. He has a clean arm action and makes accurate throws with carry around the diamond. Working on his footwork and agility will improve Mario's range. At the plate, Mario sets up square with loose hands. He shows a smooth swing with fast bat speed making hard and consistent contact. His power shows more to the pull side. Working on engaging the lower half more will help improve his power. Mario has a good, strong base that he will continue to grow into as he matures.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Mario is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Mario makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Mario improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a small load and takes a level swing. He rotates his core well, leading to loud contact and solid pop to his pull side. Mario can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Mario gathers over the rubber and works inline towards the plate. His fastball tops out at 66mph. Taking a simpler starter step can improve Mario improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Mario has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Mario is a young, solid corner INF with good skills. At 3B, Mario fields aggressively in a square position, flashes a good backhand, and throws with direction to his target. Offensively, Mario has a tall set-up, he loads well, and stands in with good balance. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and can work the ball gap to gap. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
