11/01/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Midland, TX
Mario continues to show well on the diamond. This versatile 2-way player (SS/RHP) has an athletic/strong build. Offensively, this righty has rhythm to load waiting for his pitch. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone as he connects and drives the ball with pop to all parts of the field. At SS, Mario takes good angles and actively works around the GB with smooth actions. He secures the ball with soft hands and gains ground through it toward his target. On the bump, this righty has sound mechanics and pounds the zone with strikes. FB now ranges from 74-77 mph as he can hit his spots well. Curveball shows to be a solid out pitch with 11/5 shape and sharp action. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to add velocity on his FB. Mario is a skilled player who has a bright future ahead of him in the game.
12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic
Mario is a tough-nosed player, a fun player to coach and shows a lot of potential. Defensively, as an infielder (SS), Mario has good strong footwork, moves well right to left, knows the game and the situations. As he improves his setup, moving to the balls of his feet when fielding, and moving through the ball toward his target(s), he will make strides and get better. On the mound, Mario is a RHP with good strong drive toward the plate, gathers well and has good balance. He continues to improve driving his backside toward the target and his arm strength. As a hitter, Mario throws his hands at the ball well, had solid power and continues to put the ball in play. He will continue to improve at the plate as his balance and rhythm get better.
