04/03/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Mark-Anthony is a 2022 prospect out of Oakdale, CA. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Exchange is clean with strong throws, displaying zip (81 mph velocity). Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (93 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps.

03/27/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sacramento, CA Mark-Anthony is a strong 1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through a tall setup. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball with authority. In the field, Mark-Anthony shows fluid footwork and gets into a low position. He fields the ball out in front with soft hands and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them accurate/on-line to his target. Overall, Mark-Anthony is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

02/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Rocklin, CA Mark is a 3B in the class of 2022. In the field, he flashes good footwork and the ability to cover ground to both sides of his body. Fields from a low position with his hands presented out front. Clean exchanges and strong arm lead to good throws across the diamond. Raw arm velo was up to 80 MPH. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance. Does a good job staying balanced throughout his swing. Flashes late bat whip with good hand to hip separation. Exit velo worked up to 97 MPH. Showed lots of power potential. Also shows a good approach and works gap to gap. Mark is a good prospect with 1 year of high school left that we could see playing at the next level with continued development.

12/05/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sacramento, CA Mark-Anthony is a strong 1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through a square setup. He engages his lower half well and generates explosive bat speed through the zone, driving the ball from gap to gap with authority. In the field, Mark-Anthony shows active footwork and makes the routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate/on-line to his target. Overall, Mark-Anthony is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

09/05/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Fresno, CA Mark-Anthony is a 1B prospect who will graduate in 2022. Tall frame, with thick lower half, and stout build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. At 1B, he starts with active and a good pre-pitch routine. Showed good range both gloveside and to his back hand. Works to center baseball, with ability to pick out hops, and fields from a square fielding position. Long arm action as he throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Showed a quick release, with good carry to second base, and an arm velocity up to 77mph. He is a big target at first base and showed good bag awareness. At the plate, he hits from a tall and square stance. He hits into a firm side and shows a fast bat with natural juice in swing. Short barrel path enables him to hit the inside pitch consistently to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 90mph. Another year of development should give him opportunities to play at the next level.

03/07/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Mark-Anthony continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities are now solid with pro level power potential through a squared setup. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (93 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power, driving to all fields. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth, athletic actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft/sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Range will increase as he continue to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/08/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Mark-Anthony is a tall, solid 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying excellent power potential through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Mark-Antony has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
