Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/19/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Mark continues to show as a prospect at the Preseason Rookie All American showcase. He did show at 3B for the first time at the event. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He starts in an athletic ready position and fields in a square position. Glove action is sure and present well out front. He moves well laterally, utilizing his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. He shows a 3-pitch mix, keeping hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 76-77 mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and 10/4 shape. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throws strikes with all his pitches. He shows a good mound presence and is confident on the mound. With 4 years to further develop, Mark has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

11/05/2023 - National Showcase - Indianapolis, IN Mark is a solid, athletic RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm to work clean/quick to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He throws a slider with tight spin but resembles breaking ball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 5 years to further develop, Mark has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
