Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

04/10/2022 - All-In Membership - Washington, DC Mark is a class of 2023 1B/LHP prospect with a good frame and athletic ability. At the plate, he does a great job of keeping his hands inside of the ball and keeping his barrel in the zone. Has a line drive approach and creates consistent square contact. Does a good job using his lower 1/2 throughout his swing. In the field, he does a good job keeping his feet moving and working downhill towards the baseball. He shows clean exchanges and a good arm action to help create consistent and accurate throws across the diamond. Shows lots of energy and effort when fielding. On the mound, he does a good job of trying to work ahead and work down in the strike zone. Shows clean mechanics overall and has a good arm action. Best pitch is his curveball with 1-7 breaking action. His fastball worked up to 74 MPH. Mark is a good player with another year to continue to develop before entering college.

10/17/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Washington, DC Mark continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now 7.00 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well as he transfers weight front the backside into a firm front.

07/31/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Washington, DC Mark is a 1B/RHP in the graduating class of 2023. At the plate, he starts in an even and athletic set up with comfortable hands. Does a good job taking a simple load that activates his lower 1/2. Shows quiet actions with centered balance. His lower 1/2 works efficiently helping him get his barrel on plane early. Also shows an advanced approach with a line drive focus. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He picks up target early and attacks the strike zone. Works off of a FB that sat 68-72mph with some run, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed and same running action as FB. FB was his best pitch during his bullpen. Mark is a good prospect that we expect to continue to develop with maturity.

04/18/2021 - All-In Membership - Washington, DC Mark is an athletic 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Foot work around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. He moves well laterally with range increasing as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Mark has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
