09/17/2014 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Mark continued to show why he is a solid two-way college prospect. On the mound he showed a three pitch mix. His FB had good arm side run. Both off speed pitches proved to solid and were thrown for strikes. His CB had sharp 12/6 break. Mark kept the same arm speed with his CH as his FB. He showed good tempo on the mound and solid mechanics. He was able to come in and shut down his opponents. As a third basemen Mark displayed sure hands and good footwork. He has good carry on throws and also uses his feet to make throws. He will really be able to take his game to the next level if he can develop more foot speed. Offensively, Mark showed a simple approach at the plate with very solid hitting mechanics. If he can work on driving his lower half through the ball more he should develop more power. Overall, he did a great job on the mound and at third.

07/22/2014 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD Mark is a solid, talented, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, Mark has a loose arm action, he keeps his eyes on target, and he throws a heavy baseball. He has good off-speed, works on a downhill plane, and he finishes through completely toward his target. At 3B, Mark is a sure handed, feet are quick, and he fields out front. He makes plays consistently, gains momentum toward his target, and he throws with direction and carry across the diamond. Not stabbing at times and continuing to quicken his footwork will help improve defense. At the plate, Mark has a square set-up, an activated load, and direct hands to the ball. He has good bat speed, a middle of the field approach, and he flashes some pop in his bat.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
