08/10/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 2
Mark continues to play well and work hard to improve his overall game. He showed that he was very coachable during the event making changes throughout. He has a good pre-pitch set up, active feet, a quick exchange and can throw from various arm slots. At the plate he has an opposite field approach and is on plane with his swing with average bat speed. He needs to continue to strengthen his arm with a solid long toss program and work on his speed and agility to help continue to develop his overall game.

Mark is a young, athletic 3rd baseman with a solid frame. Defensively, Mark has sure hands, active footwork, and he picks out the right hops. He covers ground well, he flashes a solid backhand, and he fields athletically on the balls of his feet. Mark has a quick exchange, and he throws with a short arm action with average strength and good consistency to his target. Defensive tool grades can get better if Mark can improve his glove angle and add arm strength. Offensively, Mark has a square / athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has loose hands, average bat speed, and he is short and direct to the ball. Mark's swing is level, he can work the ball gap to gap, and he swings in good rhythm. Hitting can get even better if Mark can keep his hands high, improve his pitch selection, and finish off his swing.
