02/16/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Mark is an athletic 3B/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 3B, Mark shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in an athletic position and gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. In the OF, Mark shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in an athletic position and makes a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Presenting his hands out in front to the ball can help Mark improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. Mark can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Mark is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

02/17/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Mark is a tall RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Mark gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He drives his lower half and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Mark shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side run. Cutter sits from 72-75mph. Changeup sits from 68-69mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Mark improve as a pitcher. With two more years to develop, Mark has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Mark continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential are now well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with zip (84 mph velocity) across the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 76 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters, working to get ahead. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

08/12/2018 - College PREP - Elgin (Chicago), IL Mark is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Mark shows a good prep step and makes the routine plays. He makes a clean exchange to throw and keeps his throws consistently on-line to his target. Mark can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and is smooth getting into his load. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact. Mark can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. On the mound, Mark keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows plus arm speed and extends through on his release. Mark has a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Changeup sits from 69-71mph with arm side tail. Mark can improve as a pitcher by finishing with his chest over his front knee. Overall, Mark is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
