11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training
Mark showed solid improvements in his game on the mound, in the INF, and at the plate during his time at Pirate City. On the mound, Mark increased his radar velocity from 72 to 76 MPH, as well as his CB grade. He is an aggressive Pitcher with good balance and good arm speed. He has good athleticism, nice control, and he has the makings of a very nice CB. Improved direction and continuing to add arm strength will help mound effectiveness continue to improve. In the INF, Mark has good hands and feet, and nice range. He has athletic actions, he makes plays, and delivers the ball accurately to his target. Continuing to quicken his feet and add physical strength will help INF skills rise. At the plate, Mark is a disciplined hitter with good barrel accuracy. He is a coachable player with a level swing and some pop in his bat to all fields. Mark needs to stay back on the ball and throw his hands more directly to the ball in order to further improve offensive grades.

Mark is a young, thin, 2-way player that plays SS and RHP. He currently projects better on the mound as he enters his Freshman year. On the hill, Mark has loose actions and a FB that touches 72 MPH. His CB has tight spin and he CH has average feel. He mixes his off-speed well and competes in the zone. Mark has potential on the mound, but will need to refine his mechanics, use his body, and add arm strength in order to get better. In the INF, Mark is a raw player with average INF abilities. He makes plays on balls hit his way and throws with some accuracy across the diamond. Quicker actions, softer hands, and added arm strength will help abilities at SS improve. Offensively, Mark has average bat speed and a level swing. He stays inline to the baseball and gets okay extension through the ball. If Mark can add strength, avoid reaching for the ball, and improve his approach, offensive grades can get better. Mark is a very raw player that can only get better with age and repetition.
