12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Jackson continues to work hard and make adjustments to his game. At the plate, this righty gets back into a strong loaded position as he waits for his pitch. He shows an open stance with a solid base. He has good strike zone awareness as he drew 4 walks at the event. At 1B, he moves athletically to get into position behind the ground ball. Good bag awareness and active footwork allow him to make plays on inaccurate throws coming his way. On the mound, this RHP works to a tall balance point and through a repeatable delivery. Easy/relaxed actions allow him to fluidly work in-line toward the dish. More lower 1/2 drive toward the plate and a long toss program will help to increase arm strength and raise velocities. Marquez is an athletic player who has big upside.

05/12/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Marquez is a thick, athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Marquez has firm hands, active feet, and he squares up well to the ball. He can pick it out of the dirt, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a short arm action. On the mound, Marquez has eyes on target, a short arm action, and on-time separation. He has level shoulders, and lands in a square position. At the plate, Marquez has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He makes consistent contact, his swing is level, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
