Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

10/17/2021 - All-In Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Martin is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2022. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF, shows fluid/active feet, with good agility, and ability to cover ground in all directions. Fields ball out front from an athletic/square fielding position. Good reads off the bat enable him to flip his hips and works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a loose/quick arm, and throws were on-line into the infield at 81mph. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher gathers over the rubber, with good balance, and works downhill. Works with good tempo and separates his hands on-time. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 75-77mph with some tailing action, a 12/6 shaped breaking ball with big break, and a developing changeup that he keeps down in the zone. A left-handed hitter, starts with a crouched and even stance. He hits into a firm front side, with quick hands, and has a fast bat through the hitting zone. Made square contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph during BP. With another year of development, we see this 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
