11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Mason Jordan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.82 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap. At the event, he was 1 for 2 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

09/01/2019 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Mason is an athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 1st base. Behind the plate, Mason has a presentable glove, he blocks quickly, and keeps his chin down properly. He has playable footwork behind the dish, he looks the ball into his glove, and he throws with pop times as low as 3.4 seconds to 2nd base. In the INF, Mason moves well around the bag, he field squarely, and throws with direction to his target. At the plate, Mason has a tall stance, he loads well, and stands in with good balance. He has fast bat speed, power in his bat, and he can drive the ball the other way. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
