07/29/2017 - Under Armour All-America Game, Powered by Baseball Factory
With an outstanding mix of tools and athleticism, Mason is a unique prospect. As a 6'3" RHP, he has a quick, loose arm that delivers heavy, tailing fastballs in the low 90s from a three-quarter arm slot. The ball jumps out of his hand and gets on hitters in a hurry. He also throws a breaking ball that has good tilt and depth, inducing lots of swing and misses. Mason is truly a high-level athlete as he can play multiple positions on both the baseball field and football field. In fact he may play both sports at the University of Florida, where he is committed.
09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East
Mason is one of the most unique prospects in the 2018 class with big tools and a P/C profile. He has a high ceiling at both spots with his athletic 6'3" frame working well on the mound, behind the plate and in the box. As a hitter Mason is excellent through contact, accelerating the barrel well resulting in leverage power. He drove some balls to the pull side in BP and singled in his first game at bat. Defensively, Mason's arm strength led to times as low as 1.92 to 2B with online carry. He is comfortable catching velocity and has good feel for the game. On the mound the arm strength is once again apparent where his quick arm stroke had his fastball topping out at 91 mph. All this despite playing QB for most of the game the night before the UA Futures event. The leadership and toughness from football carry over nicely to the baseball field for Mason, and he has a bright future no matter which position ends up being his primary one.
