06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Mason is a young, two-way player on the mound and at 3B with a strong, physical looking body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is average and he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get and playing through the baseball. Hands are solid but presented deep at times, allowing the baseball to dictate play. Defensive abilities are solid average in the IF. Arm strength is slightly above average and he must get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, hitting abilities and power are slightly above average through an aggressive approach. He has some strength in his swing but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reach his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments at the plate. He was 1 for 7 with a 3B at the event. On the mound, fastball shows arm side run on a downhill plane that creates tough angles on hitters. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch displaying a 10/4 shape with sharp breaking action. Changeup shows solid feel for. He has a smooth delivery that allows his arm to work freely. With 2 years to further develop, Fordyce has potential with a lot of room to improve.
