Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/21/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - Session 2 (HS) Mason is a talented 1B/RHP in the 2023 class. He recently impressed scouts with his two-way ability, make-up and the ability to play the game hard. In the field, he is a strong target for his defenders and has a good feel for the bag. Moves well in his defensive area and is engaged. Has arm strength, (87 velo) and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he is on the attack and gets ahead of hitters. Eyes stay true to the target and his hips engage well to the plate. His FB topped at 79 with tailing actions. His CB has tight spin, 10-4 shape and sat 61-2. At the plate, he is an aggressive hitter. Looks to make hard contact on a line and into the gaps. Path is on-plane and bat speed exists (85 exit velo). Working to stay connected in his legs will increase his overall fire power. Overall, Mason has the ability to continue to be a two-way player and will help a college program soon.

02/13/2022 - All-In Membership - Monticello, IA Mason is a RHP who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectible frame. A simple/repeatable delivery who works with good tempo. Works with good direction and has a controlled landing. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 75-78mph with some cutting action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with some depth through the strike zone, and a splitter with downward tilt that he throws with FB arm speed. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an upright and open stance. He starts with a short glide step, with looseness to hands, and is balanced at contact. Hit balls to the opposite field with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee Mason having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
