02/15/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Mason continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick (70 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/16/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Mason improved arm strength to 63 MPH, exit velocity to 64 MPH, and he ran his best 60 during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Mason has agile range through efficient footwork. He fields low, in a square position, moves well laterally, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. At the plate, Mason has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and he has good feel for the barrel. He makes hard/consistent contact, he hits line drives, and he uses his lower body. Continued work on the following can help skills improve.

Defense
1. Hands
2. Shorten AA
Offense
1. Finish
2. Bat speed

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Mason is an athletic and talented 2025 SS prospect that was eager to learn. At SS, Mason is on time with his pre step, he presents a low/early glove, and works around the ball. He has good actions to the ball and has good hands. He needs to continue to play through his back hand and improve his footwork on double plays. At the plate, mason has a good eye for the strike zone, he gets to balance, and gets his lower half through the swing. He needs to continue to be aggressive on the fastball early and look to use the whole field. Mason will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Mason is an athletic and talented 2025 SS prospect that worked hard all weekend. At SS, Mason is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and fields the ball in front of his body. He creates angles and is aggressive to the ball. Continuing to long toss and work on game like throws in his throwing program will increase his arm strength and ability to throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Mason starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and drives the ball gap to gap. He attacks the inside part of the ball, has backside rotation with his lower half, and creates whip in the barrel. Mason has a high baseball IQ and is eager to learn. This young prospect has a bright future and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/13/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Windsor (Madison), WI Mason is a young, athletic SS with a thin frame. Defensively, Mason has fluid/active feet, agile movements, and he fields in low/square position. He attacks the ball aggressively, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum from a loose arm action to his target. Offensively, Mason has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and he keeps a still head. He swings in good rhythm, stays inside the baseball, and makes square/consistent contact. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
