06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Mason continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to work to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his quick feet (7.16 60 time) well in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive swing path with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate through a side arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 67-68 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Mason continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 64 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Mason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Fastball shows a range of 58-61 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. He throws a slider that resembles breaking ball. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

05/26/2019 - College PREP - Murfreesboro (Nashville), TN Mason is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Mason shows efficient footwork and flashes good lateral range. He fields the ball with soft hands and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws consistent to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Mason improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, making solid contact to his pull side. Mason can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Mason works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 46-47mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 46-47mph with arm side run. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Mason improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Mason has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
