12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Mason is a tall, athletic built 3B/RHP prospect who has a talented skill set. Offensively, Mason has a relaxed setup with controlled rhythm. He has an activated load with a short stride. Mason shows explosive bat speed and gets good extension at contact. He uses all arms producing inconsistent contact. Mason shows the ability to drive the ball to the pull side. At the hot corner, Mason shows solid footwork and is prepared on every play. He fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. Mason stops and starts on his release throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate with good strength across the diamond. On the mound, Mason has a confident approach and competes with every pitch. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He pitches from the stretch showing a clean arm action. Mason gets good extension and keeps his shoulders in-line with his eyes level. He has a controlled landing falls off to the side. Mason commands his fastball with tail movement. He also has a deceptive changeup and developing curveball. Overall, Mason is a projectable prospect who has the talent to take his game to the next level.

04/08/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Billings, MT Mason is a young, 2-way player with a strong/athletic frame. At 3B, Mason has firm hands, active feet, and he makes plays consistently. He has a quick 1st step, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a strong arm with consistency across the diamond. On the mound, Mason has a loose arm action, a controlled landing toward home plate, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Mason has a crouched set-up, a square set-up, and he loads well. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he makes hard/consistent contact. Mason can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
