08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Mason is a hard working 2020 OF prospect who is willing to do whatever it takes to improve. He shows feel to hit with knowledge of the strike zone and tracking ability to pick out a good pitch and make contact. He shows a solid approach at the plate to get a pitch to hit and make himself a tough at bat. He has spray tendencies with a balanced swing to stay back and hit the ball where it's pitched. In the outfield, he uses good instincts and his baseball IQ to position himself well and get good reads and jumps on the ball. He gets around the ball to field and makes accurate throws to his target. A long toss program will help him to continue to improve his arm strength. Mason is an intriguing prospect we look forward to continue following as he develops.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Mason is a lean, athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.09. In the OF, he displays solid defensive abilities and utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement as he displays range. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Mason has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
