07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Mason is an athletic built outfield prospect who is a gamer. As a right-handed hitter, Mason has a tall, open setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride. Mason has fast bat speed with a direct swing path staying short to the baseball. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball producing solid contact. Mason has the ability to spray the ball to all fields and is not afraid to stretch and single into a double. In the field, Mason is continually hustling and covers a wide range of territory. He fields the ball in a high position with a high glove. Mason has a quick, clean exchange leading into a quick arm action. He has a short release throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate with good carry across the diamond. Overall, Mason is a projectable prospect who has the ability to take his skills to the next level.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Lake Charles, LA Mason is a solid, athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.15. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads ball well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Mason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
