01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Mason is a 2024 RHP/Corner IF prospect. He is very athletic pre-pitch and does a good job of getting himself in a good fielding position. He makes strong accurate throws across the diamond that have good carry. Working out in front will help with routine plays in the infield. At the plate, he features an open stance with loose hands. He has a good rhythmic load and controlled stride. Very strong kid that makes hard consistent contact with an on-plane swing. Hips and hands work well together. Has a great attitude and is a hard worker. On the mound, he works from a high 3/4 arm angle and gets on a good direction to the plate. Works the outer half well with the FB and throws strikes. CB has some gradual break and tilt. Slows his arm down on his CH. Uses his lower half effectively to get the most out of his motion.

10/09/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Dayton, OH Mason is a 1B/RHP in the 2024 class. In the field, he centers his 5’11/185 frame to the baseball. He fields in a low and athletic fielding position and his transfers are clean. Gathers himself and aligns his body to his targets and uses a ¾ arm slot for consistent accuracy. Working to present the glove sooner and further from his body will allow for hop adjustment. On the mound, he has a repeatable delivery and works downhill. He uses a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ arm slot. His FB topped at 72 and his CH sat 66-67 with advanced location. His CB sat 60-4 with good arm speed and depth. At the plate, he uses his strong frame well. He has a direct path to the baseball and generates pull side power. His timing is fluid and stays inside his feet. Working to stay inside the baseball with extension will give him more backspin ability and drive the baseball through the gaps. Overall, he is a solid 2024 follow.

01/14/2022 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex(Ages 14-18) Mason is a physical RHP/1B out of Waynesville, OH in the class of 2024. At 1B, he displayed great footwork around the bag adjusting to incoming throws from infielders. He squared up to the ground ball and kept it in front of him to make the routine play. He had a quick arm action with accurate feeds to his targets. At the plate, he showed a strong lower half working through the baseball with balance. His on plane bat path enabled him to make hard consistent contact with gap to gap power. On the hill, he attacked the zone consistently. He threw a 3 pitch mix of fastball (70 mph), a 10/4 curveball and a change up that ranged from 60-61 mph. Mason could benefit from programs/drills such as bands, long toss, towel drills, on handed ground ball work, speed & agility.

10/10/2021 - All-In Membership - Dayton, OH Mason is an athletic RHP/1B who will graduate in 2024. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed range of 62-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sweeping action. He slows arm speed on changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Mason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
