03/20/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - NJ (HS) Mason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.18 runner. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this 2022 backstop.

01/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Milton, NY Mason is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon (86 mph velocity) for an arm with impressive pop times of 2.00. Offensively, he continues to shine with outstanding hitting/power potential through an open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (88 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. Mason has tremendous upside and will get looks from top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
