02/09/2019 - College PREP - Palmyra, PA Mason is an athletic, young 2 way player with good upside at SS and on the mound (RHP). At SS, Mason displays active footwork, loose easy actions and a soft glove with range to his glove side. Gaining more momentum on his throws can help Mason improve defensively. At the plate, Mason shows a square, athletic setup with a short, square stride. His load is straight back with fluid, smooth rhythm, with his barrel in a consistent spot for a clean bat path. He has a quiet head to see ball clearly for line drive swings to all fields. On the mound, Mason shows on time separation with clean arm action, extending out in front. Good tempo as he eyes the target, being directional to the plate. Mason will continue to increase his arm strength with a good long toss program and by driving his lower half. Mason continues to improve in all aspects of his game on his way to more development at the Omaha World Series June 2019.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Mason continued to showcase his skills at the National World Series at Pirate City and made adjustments well. In the field, Mason shows quick footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Mason can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and gets into his load well. He leads with his lower half and takes a level swing, leading to square contact. Mason can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride to improve his timing. On the mound, Mason keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm action and stays inline towards the plate. Mason shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph with arm side tail. Breaking ball sits from 58-59mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 58-59mph with cutting action. Mason can improve as a pitcher by driving his lower half more. Overall, Mason is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills.

07/14/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Mason is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the D.C. All Star Experience. In the field, Mason shows active footwork and is very agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Mason can improve defensively by staying low on backhand ground balls. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives. Mason can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Mason gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm action and stays inline towards the plate. Mason has a four with mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball ranges form 55-60mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 57mph with good sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Knuckle ball sits at 57mph with solid movement. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
