09/16/2018 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Mason is a hard working 2020 2-way prospect that continue to improve his game each time we see him. At the hot corner, Mason is on time with his prep step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and presents a low/early glove. He's aggressive on slow rollers and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Mason starts in an athletic stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he has smooth pre-pitch actions. He uses his backside, stays balanced throughout the swing, and makes hard contact through the middle part of the field. On the bump, Mason gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and keeps his eyes on his target. His fastball has some bite, he has a big 12-6 break on his curveball, and he keeps his changeup down in the zone. Mason continues to make progress through experience and we hope to see him again in the future.

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Mason is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At the hot corner, Mason presents a low/early glove, works around the ball, and plays through his backhand. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Mason starts in an open stance and loads his hands back. He hits off a firm front side and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to create backside rotation and hunt the fastball. On the bump, Mason separates on time, works north to south, and drives his leg toward the plate. He sits 76-77 on his fastball, has a 10-4 break on his curveball, and has good feel on the change up. He needs to continue to get to a balanced point and have good tempo in his delivery.

03/04/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Mason is an athletic and strong 2020 RHP/3B prospect. At 3B, Mason presents a low/early glove and has an efficient first step to the ball. He plays through the backhand and throws from multiple arm slots. At the plate, Mason starts in a squared stance and uses his lower half. He takes his top hand to the ball and gets extension through contact. On the bump, Mason gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and stays squared toward his target. He works north to south and has great tempo in his delivery. Mason will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays proper footwork in attacking balls and playing through well. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Mason is a tall, athletic RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
