12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Mason continues show improvements his baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry (86 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and late break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Louisville, KY Mason is an athletic SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (7.11 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (85 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he maintains balance. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-78 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Mason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

04/14/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Louisville, KY Mason is a lean, 2-way player with good skills. At SS, Mason has quick feet, a low approach to the ball, and his hands are firm. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is quick, and he throws with momentum and consistency across the diamond. On the mound, Mason has good balance, a loose/free arm circle, and he separates on time. He keeps his eyes on target, has a controlled landing toward home, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Mason has a square set-up, good balance, he swings in good rhythm. He has quick hands, fast bat speed, and he makes hard/consistent contact. Solid overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
