04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Mason is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.82 seconds. In the OF, shows good first step reads with the ability to cover ground in all directions. Flips his hips and works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Throws from a low 3/4 arm slot, with a long/loose arm stroke, and had an arm velocity up to 82mph. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works with good tempo and has some feel for pitching. He has a controlled landing and rotates to his target. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 74-76mph with some movement in zone, a 2/8 shaped slider with signs of command, and a changeup with some arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. A left-handed hitter he starts with an athletic and open stance. Showed a good approach at the plate and takes an aggressive swing at balls in his zone. He rotates his lower half well and is centered at contact. A direct barrel path enables him to hit hard line drives with a bat exit velocity up to 86mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we foresee Mason having a bright future on the baseball field.

01/22/2023 - National Showcase - Dallas, TX Mason is a LHP/OF who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. A left-handed pitcher, he shows good rhythm to his delivery with good direction to towards the plate. He separates his hands on-time as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and has a loose arm stroke. Throws a FB that sits 73-74mph. He mixes in a 12/6 shaped breaking ball with plus command, and a developing changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. In the OF, takes aggressive angles to balls, with active/efficient footwork, and showed good instincts as he worked behind and through the baseball. He fields from an athletic/low fielding position with a clean gather off of his right foot. Has a long/loose arm stroke with an arm velocity up to 80mph. At the plate, he sets up with a tall and open stance. He showed ability to hit ball where pitched, with quickness to hands, and is balanced at contact. He made consistent to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph during his round of BP. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way player making huge strides on the baseball field.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Mason is a skilled, LHH 2-way player who showed well during his time at the All-Region Tournament. With the bat, this lefty steps into the box with a purpose. Hands are loose/quick as he whips the barrel to and through the zone with + bat speed. He engages his lower 1/2 and squares the ball up, creating good backspin and driving the ball to the gaps. At 1B, he has active prep and moves well laterally. He tracks GB's into a soft mitt and gathers well. He moves well around the 1B bag and has the ability to pick it. On the mound, this lefty throws a FB and CB, pounding the zone with strikes and attacking hitters. FB shows slight tail, now topping out at 62 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with good action - 54-55 mph. Only a 2024 grad - Ziemann has a solid skill-set with a ton of upside.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Mason continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. His feet play well, and moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 60 mph. Fastball showed a range of 56-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/03/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Mason improved arm velocity to 64 MPH, exit velocity to 58 MPH, and showed solid defensive skills at his last workout. He is a 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Mason has fluid feet, a presentable glove, and he fields in a square position. He moves well around the bag, shows a quick exchange, and throws with momentum from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance, a clean arm circle, and he separates his hands on time. He works at a good pace, and stays compact throughout his delivery. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
