12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Matthew continues to impress with his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas tournament. Behind the dish, he sits low in a comfortable stance and presents a solid target. Pop times showed in the 2.37 range. Times will continue to drop as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker and builds more arm strength. He plays with a lot of energy on the field and communicates well. At the plate, he utilizes all fields through a line drive approach. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. Power will increase as he releases his back hip, rotating to pitcher. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Hartford, CT Mathew is a 2025 C/OF prospect from Milford, CT. In the OF, he shows off efficient feet and does a good job of centering the baseball. Behind the dish, he gives a good target and shows fluid, efficient movements. He keeps his thumb under the baseball when receiving. He gains ground when making throws from an overhand slot. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
