06/21/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2
Matt showed well on both sides of the ball as a rising senior at the Omaha National World Series. Offensively, he was coordinated with his hands and his hips to generate bat speed and contact. He worked counts and hit the ball with authority but has potential for even greater pop as he grows. Defensively, he had good pre-pitch footwork, presented his hands and threw with some strength. He worked well around the bag at 1B and backed up throws - always looking for ways help. On the hill, he topped out at 84 MPH with his fastball and spun a 10-4 SL with sharp action at 68-72 MPH. He was smooth with his delivery and competed constantly. All in all - Matt is a quiet, hard working player that needs to add strength to his core to perform at a higher level.
12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City
Matt showed good size, a solid mound presence, and he attacked hitters aggressively at Pirate City. He keeps the ball down in the zone, he spots it well, and he finishes in a square position. At 3B, Matt made the routine plays, he funnels the ball in well, and he can throw from multiple arm angles to his target. Offensively, Matt showed an athletic set-up, a square stride, and a direct barrel to the ball. He has small separation, makes consistent contact, and shows good barrel accuracy.
09/22/2013 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA
Matt is a RHP who has a big frame. On the bump, he delivers 3 different pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot and long/free arm action. FB touches 81 mph and shows run and heavy action. CB shows sweeping action while CH has some arm-side run. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches. Getting out over his front side on his follow through will help him to finish his pitches better. As a hitter, Matt shows a square/athletic setup with a solid base. He swings on a level path, has a middle approach and drives the ball. Matt is only a junior and should have success on the bump this upcoming season.
