06/21/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Matt showed well on both sides of the ball as a rising senior at the Omaha National World Series. Offensively, he was coordinated with his hands and his hips to generate bat speed and contact. He worked counts and hit the ball with authority but has potential for even greater pop as he grows. Defensively, he had good pre-pitch footwork, presented his hands and threw with some strength. He worked well around the bag at 1B and backed up throws - always looking for ways help. On the hill, he topped out at 84 MPH with his fastball and spun a 10-4 SL with sharp action at 68-72 MPH. He was smooth with his delivery and competed constantly. All in all - Matt is a quiet, hard working player that needs to add strength to his core to perform at a higher level.
