12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Colbert raised his top end fastball velocity two mph, up from 81 mph to 83 mph. Once again, he showed a quality breaking pitch along with good balance and tempo to his delivery. At times, his front side flew off - mostly robbing him of a consistent release point, which hurt his command. While his combination of a low 80's fastball with arm side life and a slurve type breaking ball are solid, ideally a third pitch (most likely a changeup) would at least be in the development stages at this point. At the plate, he tended to wrap the bat and had some inconsistencies with his balance. He flashed some bat speed, but will need to keep his balance better in order to get to it more consistently. While he shows potential to develop further with the bat, it appears that he will have the most value on the mound in the future.
