10/26/2008 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Matt is a young switch hitting catcher with a small, athletic looking body that does show some projection as it continues to physically mature. He has a quick release with accuracy on his throws but does stand up to throw. He needs to stay low, receiving the pitch and then come out low to high gaining ground to his target. Arm strength is near average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. Receiving and blocking skills are slightly average to average and needs work and polish to raise skill level. At the plate, Duckworth has solid average ability from the right side and slightly average ability from the left side. He shows a more natural path from the right side, showing a better feel for the barrel. Swing path is level and keeps hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields from both sides. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Matt has abilities with room to improve.
