08/06/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Matt showed as a RHP/1B at the event but currently projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 76-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break and shows flashes of being a quality pitch when he stays on top. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. At 1B, he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows a solid setup with balance. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields.
