07/29/2017 - Under Armour All-America Game, Powered by Baseball Factory Matt has an athletic, proportioned frame and throws from a 3/4 slot, making for some very uncomfortable at bats for right-handed hitters. His heavy fastball sits from 90-94 mph and has bat-breaking tailing life. That pitch alone could go through most high school lineups, but he complements it with a two-plane breaking ball and a solid change. Matt throws all his offerings for strikes and is aggressive with his fastball. The arsenal is solid and the ceiling is high for this talented prospect. Committed to TCU.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Matt is a talented and reliable RHP (6'3"/195) who can light up the zone. He works to a tall/controlled balance point and drives downhill off of a strong lower 1/2. He maintains fluid/smooth tempo and repeats well. A heavy FB jumps out of his hand and cracks the mitt at 94 mph with arm side run. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with sharp break and good depth. Changeup shows drop and good downward sinking action as he throws it with FB arm speed. He works his arsenal of pitches in and out and makes for an uncomfortable AB. A TCU commit, Rudis will compete and give the Hornfrogs yet another impressive arm in their starting rotation.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
