Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

12/27/2008 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2008 Standridge threw his fastball 72-79 with some arm side tail. He did a good job of reaching a balance point in his delivery, and his arm worked well also. He struggled from the stretch, did not show the same balance or the ability to repeat his release point. Needs to work to improve his direction as well, front shoulder needs to stay in longer. In general, he also needs to be more aggressive early in the count - work ahead and work more efficiently. At the plate, his stroke was a bit inside-out. He can work let the bat head fly a little more, he is a good sized player that can produce for more power. Defensively, he made the routine plays and showed some arm strength. He improved his 60-yard dash from 7.72 down to 7.56.

08/10/2008 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Matt is a young two way player with a tall, thin body that shows a ton of projection in his body as it continues to fill out. Foot speed is below average and he needs to work to increase foot speed to play in the outfield at the next level. He does show solid foot work to throw and gets rid of the baseball quickly. He does work to get behind balls to play through. Arm strength is slightly average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. At the plate, Standridge has slightly average ability and power. He does a nice job of keeping his hands inside the baseball, spraying the ball all over. Swing path does get long. On the mound, fastball shows arm side run. Off speed pitches are average. Breaking ball displays a 1/7 shape with loose spin. He shows a decent feel for his changeup with sinking action. Delivery is near above average showing good direction and on time separation. Matt is young 2010 graduate, with abilities and time to continue to get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
