Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

02/19/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Matt is a hardworking RHP/3B prospect who has a versatile skill set. On the mound, Matt repeats his delivery and keeps his eyes on his target. He has a balanced, on-time motion throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Matt has a high effort arm action and extends through his release. He stays square to home plate and effectively uses his front side. Matt commands both sides of the plate with his fast at 78-82 MPH. His curveball has late break and his changeup shows sink action. Offensively, Matt has a square, athletic stance with his weight on his toes. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and long stride as his lower half leads his swing. He tries to get extension at contact and is developing bat speed. Matt shows power to the pull side. In the field, Matt shows effective pre-pitch actions. He fields the ball in a low position and stabs with his glove. Matt throws with a long arm action and working to play through the ball. Overall, Matt has skill on both sides of the ball and potential to advance his skills with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
